Pete Campbell

Chairperson

Pete is a local farmer and businessman – and has lived and worked in the area all his life – he is well known within the community and has a great concern for its well-being.

He was a founder member of the Kyle Trust and has been chairman ever since.
His interests include, an appreciation of the local natural environment, using his experience to encourage community empowerment, his two dogs and, most importantly, a deep involvement with his extensive family.

Jackie Knight

Director

Worked as Diagnostic Radiographer and also latterly as a Sonographer until 1986 when, soon after qualifying in Ultrasound became a clinical Tutor at the Nottingham School of Radiography.

Jackie moved to Scotland in 1990 to work singlehandedly in X-ray and ultrasound at Lawson Memorial Hospital, Golspie, and at Wick and Invergordon Hospitals on occasion. She retired from the NHS in March 2019. Her hobbies are reading, walking, gardening and knitting.

Andy Wright

Director

Andy and his wife Betty moved to their house in Strathcarron in 1975. They have four children: Anna, Bobby, Fionn & Catriona (Cat).

Andy started teaching Physics/ Science at Tain Royal Academy in 1979 and remained there throughout his teaching career, leaving in 2013 as head of Math, IT and Business Management.

With varying degrees of competence(s) he is a keen walker, cyclist, gardener, woodworker, bee-keeper, builder and mechanic.

He helps manage the Gearrchoille Community Wood in Ardgay and is a member of the Ardgay & District Community Council.

Neil Simco

Director

A primary school teacher and teacher educator by background, Neil Simco is currently Vice-Principal for Research and Impact at the University of the Highlands and Islands. He has extensive experience in senior management in the university sector, and is also currently a trustee of the General Teaching Council for Scotland. He is delighted to be a Director of the Trust and to support its further development as a key organisation in the Kyle of Sutherland area. In his spare time, Neil is a keen learner of the Gaelic language and uses this daily in his work.

Silvia Muras

Director

Silvia studied Fine Arts in Madrid and at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Nancy (France) where she obtained a DNSEP in Communication with the Félicitations du Jury (MFA). She worked in the prestigious magazine Época in Madrid for almost a decade, leading the designing team, and in 2009 she was promoted to the broadsheet La Gaceta, becoming one of the youngest Art Directors of a Spanish national newspaper. In 2012 she moved to the Kyle of Sutherland to join her partner. In 2019 she launched Carn Bren Publishing which produces the local magazine Kyle Chronicle. She volunteers with the local Cinema Club.
